I've been MIA the last three days because I signed up for Tom Shepherd's School of Watercolour and I've been spending my time watching the first 17 or so videos.
I love what I'm learning. Tom's great at covering the basics -- he really seems to know his stuff.
So this is from his very first tutorial.
There are lots of things in this painting I love and several things I wish I'd done better.
Love:
1. the reflection on the left side of the bigger boat
2. the colours
3. the golden glow behind the bigger boat
Wish:
1. that there was more interest going on with the blob of purple trees between the two boats
2. that I'd painted the big boat sitting a bit further down into the water
3. that I knew how to make trees look looser and more broken up
I can hardly wait to try out his next tutorial -- an egret. Wish me luck!
